How to prepare for the Civil Service Exam ?
The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is considered to be the mother of all written examinations. It is a curriculum heavy examination especially at the Main exam stage. A candidate, therefore, has to begin preparation for the Main Exam and then for the Prelim. This is so because, if one starts his preparation for the Main exam after the having written the Prelim exam, he will have just four months (August to November) to prepare the Optional subject, Essay and General Studies, which is almost impossible to achieve.
What is Indian Civil Service (IAS)
Indian civil service (IAS) is the steel frame on which the governance of the whole nation is structured on. Governance of a democratic country like ours is managed by the bureaucrats irrespective of the type of government in power. The country may have an elected government(of any party or coalition), or a dictator or a king or a military regime at the helm of affairs or it may be under the President’s rule, but the civil services would certainly be in place and the government machinery would continue to function as per the policies formed. Thus it is actually the people in the civil services who implement the crucial policy decisions of the government in power.
Exam Structure : Civil Service India
The competitive examination comprises three successive stages:
(i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examinations (Objective Type) for the selection of candidates for Main Examination.
(ii) Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various services and posts.
(iii) Civil Services Interview or Personality Test.
